Gisele Bundchen was shooting for a fragrance company in Iceland and almost fell into the cold ocean.
Gisele Bundchen has faced several challenges in her more than 25-year modeling career, even coming close to dying once. While appearing on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, the 43-year-old revealed an incident from her early days as a rising face in the fashion industry.
There’s a segment on Fallon’s show titled “True Confessions.” Bundchen had to describe a story to host Fallon and fellow guest Wayne Bardy, and the duo had to figure out whether her statement was true or false. The Brazilian supermodel spoke about a near-death experience during a photo shoot in Iceland in the late 1990s.
Bundchen was in the Nordic country for a session to shoot a few photos for Lanvin’s Oxygen Fragrance. They gave her a slip dress to wear while the crew members wore protective vests. As luck would have it, she almost fell off a fake iceberg created for the shoot into the cold polar water.
She then asked her host for the day: What happens when a human being falls down into the water in Iceland?
Fortunately, she survived, and the world got to see one of the most elegant models ever to grace the floors of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Victoria’s Secret, GQ, and many more.
